a series of interviews discussing the yuri genre - yuri meaning lily and referring to romance between women. the interview discusses, what is yuri? how explicit - or inexplicit - does the relationship need to be to count as yuri?

it's commonly accepted that yuri doesn't need to be explicitly romantic - it counts as yuri if it's principally about the relationship between women. in this series of interviews, Iori Miyazawa and Gengen Kusano theorize an even more expansize definition of yuri, one that includes things like an empty field (where two women once were) and the function f(x) (two things defined in relation to each other). It's a really fascinating and enlightening read.

part 1

Iori Miyazawa is a science-fiction writer and author of the yuri novel series Otherside Picnic (Urasekai Picnic) and a novel in the same genre Side-by-side Dreamers (Soine Dreamer). The interview took place in May 2018 during the Science Fiction Seminar. The topic of the interview was "Encountering Yuri in 2018".

part 2

Sequel to the "Yuri made me human" interview with Iori Miyazawa, this event titled "The last summer and yuri of the Heisei era" was held on 24.08.2018 at the yuri section of the Shosen Book Tower store and also features author of the extremely radical yuri sci-fi anthology "Last and First Idol", Gengen Kusano.
